Russia, the Republic of Georgia’s largest neighbor and trading partner, started imposing economic sanctions on Georgia beginning in early 2006, by restricting the import of Georgian wine to Russia.

The paper can be perceived as a natural experiment ro estimate effects of the embargo on the Georgian wine industry. It discusses the correlation between trade ban and the productivity of the wine producers. What happened after trade ban and how firms reacted to the changes.
